Conex Home

We've all heard the jokes about Rednecks living in old Conex boxes, I've got a neighbor with three, not connected though, complete with window shaker A/C units and satellite dish.  But this one... Wow.

At first I thought this was a weld, but the more I look at it, I believe it's spay-in foam insulation...

Looks a bit like a double-wide

Smart.  Opens them to each other while maintaining the structural support for the roof.

Now this does appear to be a welded strip on the roof.

One of the cut-outs from the interior...

...becomes an awning.

Doesn't look thick enough to be insulation, just a sealer.

Note the back-fill; earth insulated, earth sheltered and steel walled, not bad.

French Door opening.

Bedroom window?  Probably; fire code specifies an alternative route of escape than the bedroom door.

Doesn't look so bad

Start of interior framing.  Like the little Tea Table?

They chose to insulate the interior rather than foam the exterior.

The interior wall is painted, and the arch is trimmed out.

Vapor barrier is up

No sheet-rock here...

Cozy

Nice Deer.  May be a bit too much for pine for my tastes though.

Kitchenette

Put some fascia on the exterior and you'd never know.  Ready for a second floor too...
